CONSTRUCTION TENDER PRICES FALL
Tender prices for the construction industry have fallen back to 1999 levels, according to new figures from the Society of Chartered Surveyors (SCS). The data shows that tender prices have continued to fall at higher levels than last year. Prices fell by 10.5% during the first six months of the year and by 17.3% in the last 12 months. Tender prices have now fallen by an estiamted 23% since their peak in the first half of 2007. According the SCS this is not sustainable and the estimated 200,000 job s losses are likely to be added to.
